In fair Verona, where we lay our scene

Hi Everyone,
I woke up to beautifully sunny weather in Lake Como, a day too late.  I managed to get in a few photos before I had to catch my train.

There was a little stand that sold lavender based products. I'm allergic to it, so Harold was happy to pose on the lavender bench.

I took a DIY walking tour around Verona, I would have liked to have spent more time in the city, but I saw the important sites. Verona has a mini Colosseum called the Arena.  Unlike the Colosseum, it is used as a performance venue, and has been renovated into a modern open air theater on the inside.  Verona has summer opera festival that is held in the Arena.

From there Harold and I went to Casa di Giulietta (Juliet's house).  The house is a historic building from the 1300's with a balcony, and a statue of Juliet.  I think Harold is a little infatuated with her.

Rubbing the statue of Juliet is supposed to bring you luck in love. People also scribble letters to Juliet on the walls, and leave love locks.

Did you know Italians think it is good luck when a bird poops on you?  Yeah, I learned that from an Italian lady who was kind enough to give me a wet wipe. I'm going to hope that since I got pooped on right before I rubbed the Juliet statue, that I will be extra lucky in love.

I went to see the Tower of Lamberti,

The Scaliger tombs,

and the Verona Cathedral.  Unfortunately I didn't have time to go in, but I really loved the angel sculpture in front of the Cathedral.

On my way back to the train station I stopped to take photos of the Castelvecchio Bridge.

My tour took longer than planned, so I took a later train to Venice. Its late here so I'll just leave you with a preview.
