Final day in Italy, and a food adventure

Hi Everyone,
Today is my last day in Italy.  I got off to a late start because Harold kept hitting snooze and pulling the covers over his head.  I had to remind him that if we didn't get up soon we would miss breakfast. My first stop of the day was the Naples Cathedral, which has an impressive central altarpiece.

Then I went to the National Archaeological museum, which houses many frescoes, mosaics, and statues discovered at Pompeii.  I'm glad I went to Pompeii first, because I could picture the places where the artifacts were found.

My favorite frescoes and mosaics were the portraits of real people who lived in Pompeii,

but I also liked this mosaic of musicians.

Harold was really excited when he found a mosaic from Pompeii that had a hippopotamus.

After the museum I went to Piazza Dante for a quick photo, and to wander around.

That's when I decided that for my last day in Italy, I should be adventurous and try some of the local food specialties. I had sfogliatelle, a pastry stuffed with sweet ricotta and orange, and lemon granita, a frozen lemon slush that is sold on every corner.
Then I went to the Galleria Umberto.  It reminds me of the Galleria in Milan, and I'm sure it's more impressive when it isn't covered in scaffolding.
I got to walk along an awesome street to get there.

Then I went to the Piazza del Plebiscito, and the Royal Palace of Naples.  The grand staircase is rather impressive,

and I like how this shot of the mirror reflecting the ceiling turned out.

I had planned to come back in the evening to take photos of the Piazza, but when I got there I saw this:

I managed to get one good photo though.
I was done early, so I decided to go back to my hostel to rest, before going out to eat the best pizza in Naples at L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele. Two of the other ladies in my room were going to dinner at the same restaurant so we all went together.  We got the best seat in the house, right in front of the pizza oven.  The pizza's are huge!

The pizza chef was a good sport to pose with Harold,

and he even let Harold help him make pizza!
All in all, I think it was a great way to end this leg of my trip; I'm flying to Athens tomorrow.
