Hi Everyone!
I tell myself I'm going to get in bed earlier, but it doesn't happen. Today I went to the Handel house, where the composer lived and wrote his most famous work "The Messiah". Handel would have used his home for rehearsal and performances, and the current house does the same. While I was visiting, there was a harpsichordist and cellist rehearsing.
This afternoon I went to St. Paul's cathedral and had a guided tour. The church is a relatively new design, built after the great fire of London in 1666. Unfortunately they have a strictly enforced no photography policy so I don't have any pictures to send. I climbed the 526 stairs to the very top of the dome, and it was worth it for the amazing view of London.
I visited the "Old Bailey", now a modern courthouse. I saw two judges outside talking with people, and yes, they really do wear those wigs! I had to shoot pictures from farther down the street so I didn't seem creepy.
Then I visited the St. Brides church in Fleet street. It is known for its tiered steeple tower, said to be the inspiration for today's tiered wedding cakes.
This evening I went to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London to take photos with my tripod. While I was on the bridge, they had to raise it to let a boat through! Seeing the bridge raised is supposed to be good luck!
