Hi everyone!
Today I took the train to Durham. I spent the first part of my afternoon wandering around the city near the river.

It turns out to be water safety week in the UK, and the Fire and Rescue team was there doing public outreach, and practice maneuvers in the river. Durham is a university town, and in the last few months three of the university students have gotten very drunk, and decided they wanted to go for a swim by jumping off the bridge into the river. Unfortunately none of the students survived, which is why fire and rescue is focusing on raising awareness amongst the university students.

I chatted with several of the squad members. They're extra friendly when they find out you work for a LEA (law enforcement agency). They were interested to hear about my LEA's search and rescue team, and helicopter.

I spent the rest of my afternoon at Durham cathedral. They have a strict no photography policy, so the only photos I have are of the exterior, and the cloisters.

Tomorrow I'm going to pop in and add a brick to the Lego version of the cathedral. It's a fundraiser to raise money to be able to open the cloister buildings to the public.
I was hoping to go up in the cathedral to watch the bell ringers, but unfortunately that didn't happen. They started at 8, and the cathedral closes at 6, however I do have a video.
Tonight I'm sleeping in a castle! It's 86 steps up to my room, and it looks like there are two more floors above me. I'm excited to have my own room, and a chance to relax a bit.
